Fish: Salmon and Tuna Life Saving Foods
>> Tuesday, March 2, 2010
Out of the many species of fish found in the aquatic world (just over 25,000) the most commonly found in supermarkets are Tuna, Salmon and Sardines. Eating these fish helps promotes healthy living, diet and nutrition, and reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's, diabetes, as well as stroke and arthritis. Fatty varieties of fish may also help reduce depression. The American Heart Association recommends that healthy adults eat at least one to two fish meals weekly, especially sardines, which are easy to find in supermarkets, wild salmon, and european herring, because these varieties of fish provide the most omega 3 fatty acids that promote healty diet. Try to avoid mercury-containing fish varieties like king mackerel, tilefish, and albacore tuna but Chunk Light tuna is okay.
